Find Detox Centers by Cities of Minnesota

Many treatment centers in Minnesota have separate detox branches to get someone freshly admitted to a rehabilitation program detoxed quickly. Detox and rehabilitation are different; detox is a medically supervised environment that aims to quickly (usually within a week) clear the patent’s body of toxins. Special medications are utilized that make withdrawal symptoms more tolerable. Rehabilitation aims to solidify all gains made after the detox process. Addiction is as much physical as it is mental, so rehabilitation aims to correct the mental “side” of recovery treatment. Rehabilitation utilizes counseling and 24 hour care that helps a patient learn root causes of their addiction, emotional triggers that cause cravings, and important coping mechanisms to help them say no to substance going forward.

There are different levels of detox available in Minnesota. The type of treatment an individual may receive is up to the individual and their family, however: the recommendation from health care professionals may be based on variables such as: type of addiction, level of dependence, emotional state of the individual etc. to help them make a good referral. Inpatient, or “residential” treatment is one of the most effective forms of treatment available.. It involves a long-term, live in stay at the rehab center, that can last as long as 8 months. This type of therapy requires a big commitment from a potential attendee, and is more challenging the shorter forms of treatment, however; this type of treatment statistically outperforms other forms of treatment in terms of long lasting sobriety of it’s alumni. Outpatient treatment is similar to inpatient treatment in terms of the treatment received, however; outpatient treatment involves a shorter stay at the center, or a longer stay but the rehab attendee normally returns home at night. The individual, while living at home, will attend services and often times have access to 24 hour care.

Financial assistance is available in Minnesota for those who are having difficult finding a way to pay for the treatment they need. State run rehab centers and organizations may be able to help provide that assistance, or provide care while utilizing state funding. Your social service office may be a good starting point if you or your loved one needs financial assistance for a detox program.
