Find Detox Centers by Cities of North Carolina

North Carolina has detox centers available for those who struggle with drug or alcohol addiction. A detox center is a place that individuals who are struggling with substance addiction can go and undergo medically assisted detox. As many know, substance abuse (especially in later stages) can cause serious changes to brain and body chemistry. Upon withdrawal, especially when the addict goes “cold turkey”, these rapid changes can yield some extremely unpleasant side effects and overall pain. This experience keeps many addicts addicted to their substance. It is a vicious cycle: The addict tries to quit on their own and fails time after time. With each failure, they are thrown deeper into their addiction because of the depression and anxiety that each relapse brings. This continuous cycle keeps an individual a slave to substance. Medically assisted detox programs in North Carolina know the “right” way to get a person off of drugs or alcohol. Often times, medication becomes an effective “replacement” for the drug, and also provides symptom relief and craving suppression. If you or someone you love suffers from addiction, the Internet is a great place to start doing research on an effective detox solution.

Inpatient detox treatment has seen popularity in recent years. This is effective for addicts that have tried to quit and failed several times, or someone that could be considered “heavily” addicted. Inpatient detox treatment, also called “residential” detox treatment, is a long term, live-in stay at a detox/rehabilitation center where care is received for up to 8 months. This is a safe environment for someone deeply addicted, and the combination of medical and counseling therapy is a very lucrative solution for long term sobriety. By far, inpatient treatment has the best statistical results in terms of long term results in alumni.

Outpatient detox treatment offers great treatment as well and may be a lucrative option. Outpatient patients receive similar treatment to those who are in inpatient programs, however; outpatient patients normally continue living at their place of residence while attending rehabilitation services daily. This is considered a less “drastic” for of treatment, but can be effective in the right circumstances.
